Words From Me: Why watch batman? Because i love Christian Bale and Heath rocked as joker. any other questions? proceeding to review then...
As i have previously mentioned, the whole film was really long. And if the viewer i very much into watching love stories and dramas, then they won't enjoy such a twisted plot to begin with. What i loved about this movie was the lines that Joker throws at Batman....
"You complete me." "Why so serious?" "Kill me, kill me, kill me..." "We can do this forever."
If you read it right now, it wouldn't really make sense right? Although it sounds very familiar from some other movie. The difference is HOW Heath delivered those freaking lines! It was funny and twisted that i can't help laughing at it. The plot and story line has also a lot of twist and turns... you never know what would really happen. It was that cool.
Next question... why did it only earn 4 stars for my review? Because its soOo... long. There were stale moments that could have been clipped out... and well.... it was so long. If it wasn't for Joker and Batman's suit i wouldn't really care what the hell is going on with the whole Gotham city.
Synopsis: (spoiler) The film begins with the Joker robbing a mob-owned bank. That night, multiple Batman impersonators interrupt a meeting between mobsters and the Scarecrow. The real Batman subdues everyone, but suffers injuries which lead him to design a more versatile suit. Batman and Lieutenant James Gordon contemplate including the new district attorney Harvey Dent in their plan to eradicate the mob, as he could be the public hero Batman cannot be. Harvey Dent is found to be dating Wayne's love interest, Rachel Dawes. The mob bosses meet to discuss how to handle Batman, Gordon, and Dent, while a Chinese mobster accountant, Lau, lets the gang leaders know he has taken their money to Hong Kong to prevent the police and the district attorney from seizing it in an imminent bank raid. The Joker arrives unexpectedly, offering to kill Batman for pay.
Batman successfully abducts Lau in Hong Kong and delivers him to the Gotham City police, so the mobsters agree to hire the Joker. The Joker tells all of Gotham that if the Batman does not turn himself in to the police, more people will die each day. When the Joker begins killing public officials, including Commissioner Loeb and the judge presiding over the mob trials, Wayne decides to turn himself in. Before he can do so, Dent announces that he is Batman, to draw the Joker out of hiding. The Joker attempts to kill Dent, but Gordon and Batman intervene and arrest him.
Batman interrogates the Joker, who reveals that Dawes and Dent have been taken to opposite sides of the city, far enough apart that Batman does not have time to save both of them, and placed in warehouses rigged with explosives. Batman speeds off to save Dawes, while Gordon and the police head after Dent. However, the Joker has switched the locations, sending Batman after Dent and Gordon after Dawes. With the help of a bomb planted at the police station, the Joker escapes with Lau in tow. Batman arrives at Dent's location in time to save him, but Dent sustains severe burns to the left side of his face. Gordon does not arrive in time to save Dawes. In the hospital, Dent is driven to madness over the loss of Dawes. The Joker frees Dent from the hospital and convinces him to exact revenge on the cops, mobsters, Gordon, and Batman.
While Harvey "Two-Face" Dent confronts the corrupt cops and the mobsters one by one, flipping a coin to decide their fates, the Joker burns Lau along with the mob's money. The Joker announces to the public that he will rule the streets and that anyone left in Gotham at nightfall will be subject to his rule. With the bridges and tunnels out of the city closed due to the Joker's bomb threat, the authorities begin evacuating people by ferry. The Joker places explosives on two of the ferries—one carrying convicts, the other with civilians—telling the passengers on each that the only way to save themselves is to trigger the explosives on the other ferry; otherwise, at midnight he will destroy them both remotely.
Batman locates the Joker and prevents him from destroying the ferries. After being defeated by Batman, the Joker acknowledges that Batman really is incorruptible, but that Dent was not and that he has unleashed Dent's madness upon the city. Batman finds Dent holding Gordon and his family at the building where Dawes died. Dent proceeds to judge Batman, himself, and Gordon's son through the chance of a coin flip, which he sees as the only fairness left in the world. Dent shoots Batman in the stomach, but before he can determine the boy's fate Batman tackles him over the side of the building, saving Gordon's son. As Dent lies motionless on the ground, Batman and Gordon realize the fallout and loss of morale the city would suffer if Dent's acts of murder became known. Batman convinces Gordon to blame him for the murders to preserve Dent's image. As Gordon destroys the Bat-Signal, a manhunt is issued for Batman. | New Moon | Jul 21, '08 3:31 PM for everyone |

Words From Me: (spoilers) I've finished this book a few weeks ago... i just don't have the time or sense to write a comment about it. Since i'm supposedly on a break mode right now, i should get on with it.
I'm sorry for the other fans out there, but "New Moon" for me was a bit of a disappointment. The buildup of the characters at "Twilight" was not in this book. Initially i thought Bella would be a stronger person than she seems... but then the author made her mentally unstable and clingy. I just hate that type of character in a supposedly heroine. There were also some glitches in Meyer's writing, like lots of holes and plots that are just there to be fillers and has nothing to do with the whole story. Book 1 was fabulous, but like JK Rowling, there is a book that's bound to be disaster. Not that im saying this book was a total disaster coz it really isn't, i just didn't feel it was enough to make me continue reading on non-stop.
Synopsis: Major Spoiler! Isabella "Bella" Marie Swan is thrown an eighteenth birthday party by Alice and Edward Cullen, the vampire she loves, and the rest of their vampire family. While unwrapping a gift, she receives a paper cut. Jasper, the newest member of the family to attempt a non-human diet, lunges for Bella, overwhelmed by the scent of blood. Edward leaps between Jasper and Bella, shoving her backward. Bella crashes into a pile of plates, breaking them and cutting her arms on the shattered crystal. Edward and his family protect Bella, but the realization of the danger Bella faces due to her proximity to vampires terrifies him. Edward reveals that he believes vampires are soulless creatures who will not experience an afterlife. Edward constantly struggles with his relationship with Bella because he does not wish to turn Bella into a "soulless monster" like himself. Edward convinces Bella that he doesn't love her anymore, though he is lying, and he and his family depart from Forks in an attempt to keep her safe.
Four months pass and Bella has become a "zombie," existing but not really living. Charlie, Bella's father, threatens to send her back to live with her mother. Bella is horrified that if she left, she would never see Edward again. Trying to please her father, Bella goes to a movie with her friend Jessica. When Bella spots a group of men outside a bar, she remembers a time when Edward saved her before, and decides to approach the men. Bella then hears Edward's voice in her head, warning her to stay away from them. Believing she may be on the verge of insanity, she concludes her subconscious mind is helping her believe that Edward cares whether she lives or dies. Thinking that the delusions are triggered by recklessness or being in a dangerous situation, she seeks other ways to trigger Edward's voice.
Jacob Black, Bella's friend from the nearby Native American reservation, returns in New Moon. Bella finds two motorcycles on the side of the road and decides that they are the perfect way to hear Edward's voice, being dangerous and reckless. However, they need work and she remembers that Jacob has some mechanical skills. Jacob agrees to fix them and teach Bella how to ride. When Bella rides, Edward's voice scolds her for being "reckless and childish and idiotic." Jacob and Bella become very close friends, with Bella relying on his warmth and friendship in order to heal from the depression caused by Edward's leaving. Jacob is romantically interested in Bella, even though she makes it clear that she wants nothing more than friendship with him. Once, he tells her about Sam Uley's gang. He says he is worried because Sam is looking at him strangely, and he fears he will be drawn into the strange cult.
Jacob suddenly becomes very ill and fevered, but Bella faces firm resistance when she tries to contact him. Finally, Bella contacts his old friend Quil Ateara, only to learn that Jacob has become a follower of Sam Uley. Anxious without Jacob in her life, Bella fears she may slip back into her "zombie phase." Desperate, she returns to the meadow Edward had once taken her to in an attempt to get close to a past memory. There, she runs into the vampire Laurent, who tries to attack her. When a pack of giant wolves appear and scare off Laurent, Bella escapes.
Bella confronts Jacob, who is forbidden to explain anything to her. However, he tells her that she already knows because he told her the first night they met. Bella eventually recalls a story about werewolves and vampires and realizes that Jacob, and the rest of Sam Uley's gang, are werewolves.
Bella's life becomes even more difficult when Victoria arrives in Forks. Victoria seeks to avenge her mate, the vicious tracker vampire James the Cullens destroyed in Twilight. Rather than kill Edward, Victoria sees killing Edward's "mate" as a fair trade, not realizing that Edward and his family have left Forks. It is up to Jacob and his werewolf pack to protect Bella from Victoria's revenge. Bella spends most of her time wandering around alone since Jacob is often away with the pack searching for any sign of Victoria. She soon gets frustrated, desperate to hear Edward's voice. Although she had planned to try cliff diving with Jacob, she cannot wait, and jumps alone. The weather is tumultuous, and the current pulls Bella under. She hears Edward's voice pleading with her to try to fight the water, but soon she is too fatigued and resigns herself to death. Her last thoughts are "Goodbye, I love you," before Jacob saves her life.
Afterwards Bella and Jacob learn that Harry Clearwater, a friend of their fathers, has passed away. Jacob then takes Bella home, where she finds Alice waiting for her. Bella rejoices in Alice returning but soon realizes that it is only temporary. Using her gift of seeing visions of the future, Alice "saw" Bella jump off the cliff and thought that she was committing suicide. She did not see Jacob save her because, as she later finds out, she cannot see werewolves in her visions.
During Alice's stay, Jacob is angry that Bella chose the "bloodsucker" over him. During Bella and Jacob's argument, Edward, mistakenly told by Rosalie that Bella is dead, calls Bella's house to confirm it, posing as Carlisle. When Edward asks for Charlie, Jacob, who answered the phone, informs him that Charlie is "at the funeral." Although Jacob means Harry Clearwater's funeral, Edward mistakenly believes that Bella has died. Not wanting to live in a world without Bella, Edward travels to Volterra, Italy to ask the Volturi, a "royal" vampire family, to kill him, or, if they refuse, to anger them into killing him by exposing the existence of vampires.
Bella and Alice rush to Italy and save Edward just in time. The three of them meet with Aro, a Volturi leader who can read minds through touch. Aro provides them with an ultimatum: either, Bella, as a human who knows of the existence of vampires, must die, or be turned into a vampire. Although Edward rejects both options, Alice shows Aro that Bella will become a vampire and the trio are released.
Bella and the Cullen family all return to Forks. Edward confesses to Bella that he left in an attempt to protect her, and tells her that she is his entire life and he will love her for eternity. Bella desperately wants to become a vampire so she can remain with Edward, but Edward refuses. Bella then asks the Cullens to vote on whether they feel Bella should be changed into a vampire. All but Rosalie and Edward agree that she should be changed. Edward, who abhors the idea of Bella becoming a vampire, convinces Carlisle to wait until after graduation to change Bella. Edward offers to change Bella himself, but conditions his offer on Bella's agreement to marry him. The divorce of her parents has left Bella's ideas of marriage jaded, but the she desperately wants Edward to be the one to change her into a vampire. She doesn't make a decision about marriage at the end of the novel.
In the epilogue, Bella thinks back to her "pre-zombie" state and says that "it was as if the last eight months were just a disturbing nightmare." In an effort to get Bella grounded so she can't see Edward, Jacob leaves Bella's motorcycle in her driveway for Charlie to see. Furious, Bella and Edward meet Jacob in the woods next to her house, which leads to a discussion about revising the rules of the treaty. Jacob makes it clear that if Edward or any of the Cullens bite Bella, turning her into a vampire, the treaty will be broken and the wolves will hunt and kill Bella, as well as all the Cullens. Nobody has seen or heard Victoria since Bella left for Italy. Bella begs Jacob to be her friend again but he refuses. Charlie is furious with Bella for her unexplained three-day absence and for riding a motorcycle, but she knows that with Edward at her side, everything will be all right. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Other |
Words from me:The setting and the film production was so good... it only made me sad that it didn't suffice with the story line. The whole movie was so vague that it really didn't explain much, BUT there is always a BUT... it would be up to the viewer to interpret things themselves. That's what i liked about this film, it was so complex and yet so simple. Unless the viewer is a creative thinker i think such a film would be unappreciated. The bugs weren't THAT gross as most bug movies are, it was really simple but still kind of ircky at some points. The ending was very very very... i have the filipino word for it. "BITIN" which means, it kept me hanging. That's how i felt towards the end. Over all i loved the film that's why im giving it 4 stars instead of settling with 3. Its between B+ or A- because of the effects. Some would probably consider it as draggy... but not me. I don't know why, but i felt that the film had something more in it than just the characters. The graphics were so realistic too!!! That's the best part of the movie that i really enjoyed. Jo Odagiri did an amazing job on his acting, while Aoi Yu was cute as usual. (I just wished she had more role in it than just showing up on the second half of the whole movie.) synopsis: click this link---> Lunapark6visit her site for a more thorough review. From the country that has produced such recent sci-fi / fantasy pieces like “Dororo” and “Gege Kitaro,” comes another film of that ilk but with a far more mystical feel named “Mushishi” (literal translation Bug Master). “Mushishi” is a fantasy piece set in the early 1900’s, but you could easily mistake the setting to have taken place several centuries earlier. The film was helmed Katsuhiro Ôtomo, best known for his groundbreaking animation film “Akira.” Joe Odagiri stars as Ginko, a person able to master the mushi (phantom souls of nature breathing inside the living and the dead). As a young child, Ginko (born with the given name Yoki) is separated from his mother by a landslide. He’s then taken care by a silver hair lady named Nui and learns the art of the Mushishi. Fast forward a decade or two later, young Yoki is now a grown man, goes by the name of Ginko and is a full fledged Mushishi. He travels from town to town, somewhat like the David Carradine character in Kung Fu, helping out folks against those mystifying sentients. Ginko stops in at a lodge and helps the local villagers rid themselves of the pesky sound eating mushi. After he rids the villagers of the mushis, the inn keeper asks Ginko to solve a tougher problem. Her young grand daughter has grown horns and constantly hears voices in her head. After Ginko helps the grand daughter, he travels to visit a fellow Mushishi named Tanyu (Yu Aoi). Tanyu herself has become seriously ill and Ginko works his Mushishi magic to rid Tanyu of the evil sentients. During this time, he starts to uncover the secrets of his own past. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Other |
Words from me: The first part of the movie was pretty much shady to watch, and some scenes were even rushed. The situations weren't even explained well enough to understand what really happened in the past Up until it was revealed at the latter part which is kind of awkward. What made me like this movie was near the ending part... (which i still felt that it was rushed) it made me cry. Lolz… I know it sounds cheeky, but yes. It really made me cry. Near the ending part was very touching how they made a serendipity out of everything. If only the subtitles where better I could have probably appreciated it more.

Words from me:The film was short, simple and has a lot in it. Although i didn't understand 75% of what they're talking about, i was able to get the gist of the whole thing. What i love about this film, it doesn't need much words for you to understand what was really happening. (Still, i would love to see this with subs) It was a good watch especially for teenagers who are having troubles in school and bullying. The film shows two unlikely characters meeting and helps each other in the most unusual way (Oguri Shun and Aoi Miyazaki). Friendship falling off and starting anew. The ending was pretty much special for me, it was directed well. The last scene kind of gives you a glimpse of a drastic change due to a decision that was made. That's all i could say about this movie because i want you to check it out your self if you have the chance. And hopefully, by then some subs are out. ^_~v Synopsis:Uchiyama Kaede (Miyazaki Aoi) and Shiina Kasumi (Aoi Yuu) used to be best friends. Now in high school, Kasumi grew more popular than Kaede, which has led her to continually bully her ex-best friend. One day after school, Kaede meets Kishida Takumi (Oguri Shun), a bike thief who's especially talented in picking locks. She asks him for a favour: if he could possibly open the key to the school roof. Meanwhile, the arrival of a new teacher (Konishi Manami) seems to bring changes to the school. -- Rikayla

words from me: I thought i would be crying my eyes out with this film, but fortunately it never happened. :D It was a good movie to watch, very Sharon Cuneta-ish movie, but felt good at the ending.. for me at least. It was really funny if you look at it at some angles and wasn't a complete tear jerker at all (i could easily cry at movies especially when a the actors in the movie started crying, amazingly though my tear ducts were held shut during the whole film). Over all it was a good watch, it would probably give more impact to those people who had experience the JOB first hand. I liked Makisig in this film, he was so cute and funny all throughout.
Synopsis: Caregiver is a 2008 Filipino drama film. The film stars Filipina actress Sharon Cuneta portraying the role of Sarah, a mother who left her son in the Philippines and also a teacher who relinquished her profession in lieu of care giving in London, in hopes of augmenting her salary. Chito S. Roño directed the film and Chris Martinez wrote its screenplay.
It is the top-grossing Filipino movie of the year, by far. The film also receives mostly positive reviews from critics. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Drama |
words from me: I would have to agree that it was the best motion picture there was for a drama like this, but i hate depressing movies. I'm a sucker for happy endings... this movie was draggy for me and the ending was just a pain to watch and the knowledge of how the whole story ended did not help how i felt all through out the movie.
Keira Knightley was a love in Pride and Prejudice, but this movie did not give her much of a chance to show what she's more capable of, (that's just my opinion) while on the other hand James McAvoy was really good in this film. Just a little too clean for the movie, but he was really great especially when thrown together to Knightley.
The plot was a bit draggy as the book. Yes... i fast read the book before checking this out and as i have predicted i wouldn't really enjoy it. The book was a classic, but it wasn't enough for me to make a decent review. All in all its just a three stars for me, if it weren't for the best motion picture i would have given it 2... i really hate getting depressed on movies. | Category: | Books | | Genre: | Romance | | Author: | Stephenie Meyer |
words from me: I loved this book. it's been a long time since i enjoyed a book that i can't seem to put it down.
To be honest, the first time i saw Twilight in the book store shelf, i was partially intrigued with its cover, but when i read the summary at the back part my interest was not enough to let me buy it and take it home. The second time i saw the book, i decided to buy it for "passing the time" purposes. Then as soon as i got started reading, i couldn't stop reading it. It gets really addicting! i love the way Stephenie Meyer writes, her description on the main character's feelings were just right that i started feeling the same way as i read through the whole book.
If there was a real Edward Cullen in this world, i would definitely want to be the Bella Swan in his life. ^_^v
Plot summary:(spoiler)
Isabella "Bella" Swan, chooses to move from sunny Phoenix, Arizona to rainy Forks, Washington to live with her father, Charlie, so that her mother, Renée, can travel with her new husband, Phil Dwyer, who is a minor league baseball player. Even though Bella never had many friends in Phoenix, she attracts much attention at her new school in Forks and is quickly befriended by several students. Much to her dismay, several boys in the school compete for shy Bella's attention.
When Bella sits next to Edward Cullen in biology class on her first day of school, Edward seems utterly repulsed, even attempting to change his schedule to avoid her. After tricking a family friend, Jacob Black of the Quileute (pronounced Quil-yoot) tribe, into telling her the local tribal legends (flirting with him to do so), Bella concludes that Edward and his family are vampires. Although she was inexplicably attracted to him when she thought Edward drank human blood, she is much relieved to learn that the Cullens choose to abstain from drinking human blood, and drink animal blood instead. Over time, Edward and Bella fall in love. Their foremost problem is Bella's "alluring scent", making Edward struggle to resist his desire to kill her. However, despite this and Bella's strange knack for constantly landing herself in dangerous situations, they manage to stay together safely for a time.
The seemingly perfect state of their relationship is thrown into chaos when another vampire coven sweeps into Forks and James, a tracker, sets his sights on Bella. Under the assumption that James has kidnapped her mother, Bella is lured to her former dance studio, where James attempts to kill her. Edward, along with the rest of the Cullen family, rescues Bella before James can kill her. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Action & Adventure |
Words from me: What I could say about this movie is... WOW. In bold letters!!! I couldn't believe that watching this movie was not in my list. I honestly am not a fan of Marvel's incredible hulk... but my view definitely changed when i saw this film. Although i haven't really seen the first movie, it doesn't mean that i missed a lot. They explain some of it in the second film so it doesn't make much of a difference for me, and even though i am not a fan... at least i knew the back ground in the comics. Edward Norton alone would do well in this movie, throwing Liv Tyler by his side definitely made it a plus movie for me. The effects were a bit OK not perfect since I could still see some noticeable 3D, there were also a lot of blood involved. What i really didn't get in this movie, is how the people around the General and Elizabeth are dying but they still remained alive. Probably bruised up and battered, but still alive while everyone else is dead. I'm giving it an A- or 4 stars, because of these small details.
That's just a small observation in my side. The Fight scenes made up for all those little misgiving that the movie had. I felt like grabbing for a seat belt while watching the fights and chasing... All in all it was a REALLY good watch.
Synopsis: (spoiler) The Incredible Hulk is a 2008 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character the Hulk, and was released on June 13, 2008.[3] It is directed by Louis Leterrier and stars Edward Norton as Bruce Banner / Hulk, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, William Hurt as General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross and Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky / Abomination. The film follows Banner as he flees the pursuit of General Ross while attempting to find a cure to rid himself of the Hulk. When Blonsky personally volunteers to be injected with Banner's gamma formula to aid Ross in his capture, he becomes an even greater monster, and Banner must accept his inner beast to defeat Blonsky.
After the 2003 film Hulk, Marvel Studios reacquired the rights to the character, and writer Zak Penn began work on a loose sequel that would be much closer to the comics and the television series. Norton rewrote the script after he signed on to star, severing all ties to its predecessor by retelling the origin story in flashbacks and revelations, thereby establishing the film as a reboot. Filming of principal photography mostly took place in Toronto, Canada in 2007, and the film's crew went to great lengths to reduce the production's carbon emissions. Letterier's direction aimed to make the monsters look more realistic and frightening. He redesigned the Abomination, who in the comics is a reptilian KGB agent, into a mutant soldier with bony protrusions.
Plot A series of flashback shots show the gamma radiation accident that transformed scientist Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) into the Hulk, and hospitalized his lover, Dr. Elizabeth "Betty" Ross (Liv Tyler). Now a fugitive from the United States Army, and Betty's father, General "Thunderbolt" Ross (William Hurt), Banner works in a soft drink bottling factory in Brazil while attempting to find a cure for his condition with the help of an Internet friend. He also studies martial arts and meditative breathing techniques with a judo expert to help control his emotions, and has not suffered a transformation for five months since the accident and his injuring of Betty.
After Banner suffers a cut, and his blood finds its way into a soda bottle eventually drank by an ill-fated consumer (Stan Lee), Ross discovers Banner's location, and sends a team to capture him, led by the British special operations expert Emil Blonsky. Following a ferocious battle in the soft drink bottling plant where he transforms into the Hulk, Banner escapes Blonsky, and ends up in Guatemala, from which he travels to the United States, where he sees that a now-recovered Betty is working at Culver University and is dating psychologist Doctor Leonard Samson (Ty Burrell). He also sees his old friend Stanley, a pizzeria owner, who gives him a job as a delivery boy. Banner uses this job to sneak past a Culver University security guard (played by TV's Incredible Hulk, Lou Ferrigno) to continue his research. One night Betty visits the pizzeria, and sees Bruce, later reuniting with him.
Blonsky reports to Ross that Bruce evaded them in Brazil because of the appearance of a large green monster. Ross explains that the monster is Banner, and that he was created accidentally during an experiment in radiation-resistance that, unbeknownst to Banner himself, was inspired by World War II era military bio-force enhancement research, or "Super-Soldiers", as Blonsky puts it. Blonsky, seeking both revenge and power, volunteers as a test subject in order to capture Banner, and receives a small dose of of the mothballed original super-soldier formula made in WWII by Dr. Reinstein. He leads an assault on Banner at Culver University, during which Betty is knocked unconscious. Despite Blonsky's increased strength, speed and agility, the Hulk crushes most of the bones in Blonsky's body before absconding with Betty to Smokey Mountain National Forrest. Banner and Betty then travel to Manhattan, where they meet Banner’s "Mr. Blue" Internet friend, Dr. Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson). Accompanying Sterns to his lab, Banner and Betty learn that Sterns has developed a possible antidote that may reverse Banner's transformations after their occurrence but might not prevent future ones, while an overdose would possibly kill him. Despite the risks, Banner agrees to test Sterns' antidote and is restrained before being shocked into transforming with electricity and then reverted to normal with an injection of the serum. Exhilarated by the success of the antidote, Sterns reveals that he has synthesized Banner's blood sample into a large supply with the intention of using it to enhance the human condition to the next evolutionary level. Appalled by what Sterns had done and fearful of the the Hulk's power falling into the wrong hands, Banner attempts to convince Sterns to destroy the blood supply but he is shot by a tranquilizer from one of General Ross' snipers.
As both Banner and Betty are taken into custody, Blonsky, whose super-soldier treatment has healed all his injuries but is desperate for more power, confronts Sterns and demands he subject him to a dose of the Banner's gamma radiation treatment. Sterns warns that the combination of the super-soldier serum and a gamma treatment would be an unpredictable combination and could be an abomination. Blonsky however is less than concerned about the possible consequences and Sterns promptly administers the gamma charge. As Blonsky mutates into a hideous beast, he knocks Sterns aside and an irradiated sample of Banner's blood-derivative drips into an open wound on Sterns temple, causing his cranium to mutate and expand. The Abomination goes on a rampage in the city, hoping to draw out Banner.[2] Banner, realizing that he is the only one who can stop the Abomination, convinces General Ross to release him. He jumps out of Ross' helicopter as it hovers over the city, hoping the fall will stimulate his adrenal glands into triggering a transformation. Banner's plans succeeds and after a violent, pitched battle; the Abomination is defeated when the Hulk brutally strangles him unconscious with a huge chain. The Hulk then flees the scene with the army in hot pursuit.
Thirty one days later, Banner is in Bella Coola, British Columbia. Instead of trying to suppress his transformations, he is attempting to initiate them in a controlled manner. As his eyes turn green, a grin appears on his face. Meanwhile, General Ross is drinking in a bar when he is approached by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) who reveals that a "team" is being put together. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Romantic Comedy |
Words from me: What I loved about this movie, is that Katherine Heigl’s portrayal as Jane-the main character is so impressive and real. She’s one of my favorite actresses since Roswell started and I think her career is going great especially with this romantic comedy movie with James Marsden from X-men who’s Cyclops. It’s amazing how he got this role too, since he’s always the guy who doesn’t get the girl in the movies he acted in. As far as I’m concerned with the movie, it is a really feel good flick. It’s like watching “Just Like Heaven”, by Reese Witherspoon all over again except that the lead girl isn’t in a coma. Only this time, the girl is actually a wedding fanatic and is also good at arranging it. The chemistry between Heigl and Marsden was so cute that I couldn’t help but swoon over their scenes and replay it (yeah… I’m being overly chicky). My favorite part of the movie was during the beginning of the show, when she had to attend two weddings in one night. That was just hilarious, and her energy was overboard… if that was me I would have dropped in the middle of everything in exhaustion. As for the ratings, I am giving it 5 stars equivalent to A+ because it made me laugh my ass out with its wonderful plot, the tag lines and the acting. The setting was also perfect and I would highly recommend it to everyone who’s in for a FEEL GOOD MOVIE at home or at the theaters. Too bad, I wasn’t able to see it in the movie house. Renting the original DVD has its perks too, the behind the scenes are great which they showed how they arranged the settings from scratch and recycled stuff, which was a cool information to know.
Synopsis: (spoiler) Jane Nichols (Katherine Heigl) has been a bridesmaid for twenty-seven weddings. One night when she is attending two weddings almost simultaneously, she is pushed over by a crowd trying to catch the bride's bouquet. A good-looking man helps her up and introduces himself as Kevin (James Marsden). He helps her to her taxi and brings her home. He is on his way home when he realizes Jane accidentally left her filofax in the cab, and Kevin picks it up. It turns out that Kevin is the person who writes the Commitments page for the New York City Journal, under the pseudonym of Malcolm Doyle, who happens to be Jane's favorite writer. However, he aspires to write larger articles (real articles). After seeing Jane's planner, he decides to write about "the perpetual bridesmaid" so he can advance his career.
The next day, Kevin sends Jane flowers, but she does not know he was the one who sent them. Her friend from the office, Gina, confirms that Jane is attending her engagement party that evening. It is revealed Jane is in love with her boss, George (Edward Burns), who is the only one who doesn't know about Jane's feelings for him. Jane's younger sister, Tess (Malin Akerman), comes to visit and decides to come to the party. At the party, George asks if what he left on Jane's desk was all right with her, if their new type of relationship was all right. Jane is convinced by her friend Casey (Judy Greer) that he was the one who sent her the flowers. Jane later learns he had left a dry cleaning slip on her desk, right before she is about to confess her love to him. Kevin appears and Jane has her planner returned. He has torn out a week and written his name and phone number on every Saturday for the rest of the year.
Tess and George meet, and then go dancing. Tess comes home in the morning, and it is evident that she and George are together. Soon, Tess and George are dating and Tess finds out from Jane that George is a vegetarian, likes animals and the outdoors. Although Tess isn't any of these things, she pretends to be to get George to like her. Tess and George get engaged, and Jane's father gives Tess their mother's wedding dress, even though Jane was supposed to get it. Tess gets it altered significantly and takes Jane's ideal wedding plans.
Jane discovers that Kevin is Malcolm Doyle, and Tess, not knowing about the previous weddings, tells Kevin that Jane is his number one fan and that she cuts out all his articles. Jane thinks Kevin is a cynic and hates weddings, and when she finds out what he writes, she is shocked by his seemingly affectionate and beautiful articles. However, she still hates him.
Kevin has Jane try on all her bridesmaid dresses and sends the article to his boss. She agrees to put it on the front page, but Kevin asks her to give him another week. He thinks he made Jane too one-dimensional, and is starting to fall for her.
Meanwhile, Jane has to plan out Tess' wedding, and while scanning things for a bridal registry, she and Kevin register Tess for the ugliest things. Jane and George meet to discuss the wedding food. Kevin walks in, and realizes Jane is in love with George. He tries to walk out, but they notice him. He still seems jealous, but he insists he take George's place linen shopping, so that the groom-to-be can make a family dinner on time. While in the car with Jane, Kevin confronts her about her love for George. Jane denies it, and speeds up the road, causing the car to hydroplane, and become stuck in the mud at the side of the road. The two hike to a bar in the rain to find a phone, and as there is none, they have several drinks instead.
Kevin and Jane begin to talk and realize they both have something in common, their favorite part of weddings. They both like to look at the groom when the bride makes her grand entrance, so that they can see the expression on his face. Both end up getting drunk and dancing on the counter singing Bennie and the Jets. After they jump down, Kevin admits to Jane that he cried at one wedding, and they kiss. Later, Jane is seen removing Kevin's shirt in the car and then they fall into the backseat and kiss and have passionate sex in Jane's car. The next morning Jane says that she's never "done that before" so randomly. They then go out to breakfast. There, Jane sees the article Kevin wrote about her because his boss decided to just publish it as it was. She becomes extremely angry, and storms out. Kevin gets upset, not enjoying his new position. He realizes that unlike what his boss said, he didn't get everything he wanted. Tess gets extremely angry at the way Kevin portrayed her as bridezilla, but decides to forgive Jane. After seeing that Tess has destroyed their mother's wedding dress in her alterations, Jane blows up and says if Tess doesn't tell George the truth about who she is, Jane will.
Tess however does not respond to the threat, So Jane makes a slideshow to show at Tess and George's engagement party. Tess had instructed her only to say certain things, but Jane shows pictures of Tess with other guys, eating ribs, and holding a cat by the tail. George breaks off the engagement, which upsets Tess, who is now angry at Jane. Kevin comes later that night and tells her how proud he is. He gives her a Palm Centro to keep track of her wedding stuff for all the trouble he caused her, and tells her he'll disappear from her life now. Tess and Jane eventually reconcile, and realize each other don't have it easy as the other thought.
In the end, George tells Jane he loves her because she never says no. Jane snaps out of her sadness and quits her job, admitting that she was in love with him. Jane and George kiss, but realize there isn't any chemistry. The phone rings at that moment to the song Kevin sung with her in the bar, and Jane realizes that she loves Kevin. She runs to find Kevin at someone else's wedding, where the bride recognizes her from Kevin's article and prompts Jane to say that she loves him in front of the wedding crowd. He admits to feeling the same way and the two kiss.
The story flashes forward to Kevin's and Jane's wedding one year later. At the wedding, it is implied that Tess and George will start all over, with Tess telling the truth this time. Jane wears her 28th dress and finally has her moment where he (the groom) looked at her the way she always wanted to be looked at as she walks down the aisle. She also makes the 27 brides she was bridesmaid for wear the dresses she had to wear for each of their weddings. | Iron Man | May 20, '08 12:35 PM for everyone |

Words from me: This movie rocks!!! Yep… it really does. Robert Downey Jr. did a good job portraying Tony Stark. It was like watching Transformers, only with a person inside the robot! It was so good that I’m already looking forward for the next movie. I’m sure there’s going to be a next! This is MARVEL I am talking about here!!!
The first few minutes of the show I was laughing my ass off with Robert Downey Jr. taglines (just like I did Transformers, sorry… just really need a comparison here.) and facial expressions. I wish I was with my movie buddies to share this experience with and laugh my ass out with them. Right now, I badly need someone to converse with and share notes with what they think about the movie.
As for the rating, I’m giving it a complete five stars and an A+ for the script, plot line, effects and actors! No bias here, coz it’s the first time I’ve seen or heard Iron man or Robert Downey Jr. as an actor… but I also have to be honest, Gwynette Paltrow as Pepper Pot was really something. I was laughing at her name! But I definitely love her side-kick/P.A.-Personal Assistant role here. There was this line between her and the reporter that I just love to remember.
(Spoiler Alert!)
Girl Reporter: Oh… you’re that assistant everybody’s talking about. So you even pick up his dry cleaning?
Pepper Pot: Yes… that’s me. I do a lot of things for Mr. Stark and sometimes including taking away his trash.
I know this doesn’t seem funny right now if you read it… but Pot was being sarcastic here, because she was referring to the Girl Reporter as the trash since Stark just slept with the girl and was trying to get rid of her. I find that conversation really funny.
(Spoiler Finish)
This is a highly recommended movie. It is also worth watching in the Movie Houses or even in IMAX. That’s how good this movie is.
Synopsis: (spoiler) The movie opens with Tony Stark's convoy being attacked by a terrorist cell called the "Ten Rings". Then cuts to flashback showing Stark's bachelor life, and trip to Afghanistan to demonstrate Stark Industries' new weapon, the "Jericho" cluster missile, after the exhibition the convoy is attacked as shown in the opening scene.
Stark's heart is damaged and requieres a "arc reactor" that supplies energy to an electromagnet which prevents embedded shrapnel from reaching Stark's heart, which would kill him. The terrorist then order him to build a Jericho missile for them. Instead, he and fellow captive Dr. Yinsen secretly build a crude but strong power armor fueled by a miniature reactor in his heart, a smaller version of a power source previously invented by Stark. During their time together, Yinsen makes Stark reconsider his life, from his playboy attitude to his hand in forging instruments of death. Dr. Yinsen is killed in the ensuing escape attempt when he stalls the guards to buy Stark enough time to power up the suit. Using the built-in weapons in his suit, Stark defeats several terrorists, destroys their weapons stockpile, and escapes, though his suit is destroyed as he crash lands in the desert. Upon being picked up by the Air Force and returning to the United States, Stark declares that his company will no longer manufacture weapons. His business partner, Obadiah Stane, tells him that this move is blocked by the board members shortly after.
Stark retreats from public view, focusing on the design of his power suit, refining its size and flight capability. He also builds a more powerful and reliable mini-arc reactor to power both his life support and the suit. The press believes him to have post-traumatic depression, so he decides to go to a public party where he encounters his secretary Virginia "Pepper" Potts and flirts with her but she rejects him, then the reporter he slept with earlier shows him pictures of Stark Industries weapons in the hands of terrorist groups, including the Jericho missiles he refused to build for them. He also discovers that Stane has been supplying weapons to both the U.S. troops and the terrorists, as well as being the one to shut Stark out of the board while he recovers. Faced with the realization of what his company has done, Stark dons the power suit and flies to Afghanistan, rescuing Yinsen's village from the Ten Rings. In destroying their weapon stockpiles, he accidentally draws the attention of the United States Air Force and his friend and company military liaison, Lieutenant Colonel James Rhodes, who handles USAF weapons development. A pair of F-22 are sent after Stark--one is damaged during the chase, but Stark manages to save the pilot. Learning of Stark's identity, Rhodes covers up the incident as a training accident.
Determined to make amends for his mistakes, Stark sends his assistant Pepper Potts to find the shipping records of Stark Industries, so he can track down the illicit shipments and destroy them. While hacking into the system she discovers that it was Stane who hired the Ten Rings to kill Stark, but they had reneged on the deal when they realized who the target was. She also discovers that Stane has recovered the power suit prototype and has reverse engineered his own version. Stane, upon realizing Pepper's discovery, steals Stark's arc reactor from his chest to power his new suit, leaving Stark for dead. Using his first reactor, which was not designed to power his latest armor, Stark does battle with Stane atop Stark Industries and the surrounding streets, defeating him when the full-sized arc reactor that powers the lab is deliberately overloaded, under Stark's instruction, by Potts. The resultant blast drains most of the power in both suits and the top-heavy Iron Monger suit falls into the reactor, destroying the suit and Stane. Stark's reactor reactivates after having almost failed completely. Afterwards, Stark's alter ego is dubbed "Iron Man" by the press. Stark holds a press conference where his S.H.I.E.L.D. contacts expect him to state that Iron Man is Stark's own bodyguard (the cover story used for years in the comics). However, after stumbling into a loaded question by one of the press reps, he ultimately makes his identity as Iron Man public instead.
After the credits, S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson) visits Stark to discuss about the Avenger Initiative. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Action & Adventure |
Words from me: If you're looking for an incredible martial art fight scenes like the ones from crouching tiger... then this might be you. Although i have to warn you guys that the fight scenes in Crouching Tiger is way better coz as i judge the fight scenes here, it's pretty much exaggerated. I'm also going to be a bias here... i am a Jacky Chan and Jet Li fan. i still can't get over Jacky's humor though. it was like Rush Hour on a different level and without Cris Tucker. The main guy, Michael Angarano was pretty good for he's role, but he didn't charm me that much. The magical scenes where not that spectacular as i thought it would be... or maybe i just had a high expectation of the movie based on how good i heard it was. So anyway... i'm rating it a 3 star or B- to B+ due to the things i have just mentioned earlier.
if you are into Jacky Chan and Jet Li with all those magic flying and immortality thing going on... then this one's for you.

Words from me: I have been into UK fantasy stories since i read and saw LOTR and Harry Potter in the movies. This was no exception... to someone who had read the book it might have been a total disappointment (as the golden compass have been to me) but this movie totally got me and since i haven't exactly read the book, i have no idea what i missed, but as i read the summary of the book it was far beyond what the movie have been. WAY different endings. I liked the movie's ending better than the book though... (I would still be checking out the book after this) i gave it a rating of 4 stars or A- since it wasn't really perfect and worth re-watching after the credits finished. I would probably re-watch it again if i'm bored and into watching re-run movies.
Over all the movie was really enjoyable. Claire Daines was like a split image of Gwyneth Paltrow in this film and a very unlikely STAR too (that's literally a star), while Charlie Cox was the ideal stupid guy who has the character of there-is-more-than-meets-the-eye kind of guy. Basically i loved the flow of the story and its quirky moments with the ghosts and witches and seemingly business man pirates that fly into the air.
Are you curious enough to watch it? Go ahead.. enjoy yourself for a real funny fantasy/adventure/romance. Its like the Brother Grimm's fairy tale movie only better.
Synopsis: (Spoiler) Tristan Thorn (Charlie Cox) is the son of Dunstan Thorn and Una, a captive princess. The couple met only one night and fell in love instantly. Unfortunately, when Tristan was born, Una was not allowed to keep him and instead sent him to live with his father. She put in his basket a "Babylon candle", and a letter to Tristan explaining everything.
The story then jumps eighteen years to Tristan as a young man, in love with the prettiest girl, Victoria (Sienna Miller) in a small English town (Wall Village). He is desperate to bring her a newly fallen star by her birthday. He uses the candle to fly to where the star landed, which is not in England but a magical land called Stormhold. But then he discovers that the star is not what he expected. It is actually a beautiful, young and spirited woman named Yvaine (Claire Danes). Despite this, Tristan is determined to marry Victoria and uses a silver chain that his father obtained after trying to free Una to take Yvaine to England, promising to use the last of the magic candle to take her back to the sky afterwards.
However, Tristan is not the only one seeking the star. Yvaine is in terrible danger because the living sons of the King (Peter O'Toole) are looking for her because only the jewel that she carries can secure the throne to one of them. Septimus, one of the princes, later finds out that a star's heart grants immortality so wants to devour her heart so that he can rule the kingdom forever. Additionally the three witches known as "The Lilim" — Mormo, Empusa and the eldest and the most powerful, Lamia (Michelle Pfeiffer) — want her because they want to recover their beauty and eternal youth.
As Tristan sets out to protect Yvaine and bring her back to his beloved at the other side of the wall his journey brings incredible encounters with the pirate Captain Shakespeare (Robert de Niro) and a shady trader (Ricky Gervais) among others. Yvaine and Tristan fall in love - Yvaine confesses her feelings to Tristan after a fourth witch turns him into a mouse, Yvaine not realizing that he can still understand her.
After being changed back into a human Tristan is too woozy to continue the journey and the two stop at an inn. Tristan tells Yvaine that he returns her love. While Yvaine sleeps, Tristan cuts a piece of her hair and goes back to England to tell Victoria that he no longer loves her. However when he tries to give Victoria the hair he finds that it has turned into stardust, or rock. He realizes that Yvaine cannot enter England and stay in human form and hurries back to the other side of the wall to find her.
Unfortunately, he arrives too late. Yvaine and Una have both been captured by Lamia and taken back to The Lilim's castle, Yvaine to be killed and Una to be a servant. Tristan, with the help of Septimus, manages to defeat Mormo and Empusa but Lamia kills Septimus and Tristan is forced to fight the prince's animated corpse. Lamia nearly kills Tristan but Yvaine, now armed with the knowledge that Tristan really loves her, is able to unleash a powerful wave of light that disintegrates Lamia. Tristan picks up the magic necklace and becomes the next king of the land (Una was the king's daughter, making Tristan the last male heir). He becomes king with Yvaine at his side as queen. It is stated that the two will live forever since Yvaine "gave" him her heart when she fell in love with him. After several generations pass, the two lovers use another Babylon candle that Una gives them to return to the sky, where they become twin stars. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Action & Adventure |
Words from me: A friend of mine suggested we watch this in the theater for better effects on the film. I wasn't disappointed at all... thank goodness for big screens and power speakers!!! It was a good movie with a feel good ending. The ending was really unexpected. It was funny how endings get unpredictable now a-days in movies.
In between the story there are funny moments toO. Try to imagine and go back a thousand years and see a person with lion clothing who actually tries to negotiate with a saber tooth. Doesn't sound funny? Try watching it. You'll know what i mean. The main character's destiny is pure irony. There would be times where he is lucky, he's at the right place at the right time, while sometimes he is the unluckiest man on earth. He would be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Still... the story goes on... and having a REALLY beautiful leading woman can capture the audience. (the supporting actress in the movie was really pretty) if it wasn't for her, there would be no character for the leading male.
I rated it 4 stars or A- minus because there are just moments where the story got swayed and not very much like the movie's concept. For a 10,000 B.C. age there has been a few modernization which was a bit awkward to think of.
Synopsis: (Spoiler) The film follows D'Leh (Steven Strait), a young mammoth hunter of the Yagahl Tribe who is the son of a hunter who allegedly abandoned the village. It was also at that time that D'Leh witnessed the mysterious arrival of Evolet (Camilla Belle), a young girl with bright blue eyes who prompts a prophecy from the wise old woman of the tribe, Old Mother (Mona Hammond) of "four legged demons" (men on horses) coming to their land during the last Mammoth hunt to occur years later. D'Leh falls in love with Evolet and promises that she will always be in his heart.
Years later, the Yagahl tribe is expecting the arrival of a mammoth herd to help them survive the winter. According to Tic'Tic (Cliff Curtis), D'Leh's trainer and a friend of D'Leh's father, whoever kills the lead male of the herd will inherit the legendary White Spear of the North, and his wife of choice. When the mammoth herd arrives, the hunters try to capture the biggest one by dropping a net anchored by large boulders, but the mammoth manages to escape. D'Leh gets his hand caught in the net and is dragged by the mammoth. The struggle ends when the mammoth is pierced in the heart by D'Leh's spear after he desperately places it in the cleft of a rock. Since nobody sees this other than Tic'Tic, D'Leh is assumed to be the leader and the winner of Evolet's love. However, Tic'Tic is reluctant to recognize D'Leh. Being honest with the fact that he had tried to let go of the net and did not kill the mammoth, D'Leh returns the White Spear for the sake of honor.
During the night, a group of raiders come in and kidnap several Yagahl, including Evolet. The warlord leader takes a liking towards her. His main henchman, One Eye, believes that the girl is a witch who has seduced his master (his later actions hint that he is attracted to the girl as well). D'Leh decides to rescue Evolet and the rest of the Yagahl. Tic'Tic, Ka'Ren, and young Baku, whose mother was killed by One-Eye during the attack, join him. In pursuit of the raiders, they pass through a rainforest and are ambushed by a pack of Phorusrhacids. D'leh stuns one with a rock before another chases him into a bamboo patch. D'Leh narrowly avoids being eaten by impaling the bird through the head with a broken bamboo stalk. During a failed rescue attempt in the forest, Ka'Ren and Baku are captured by the raiders and Tic'Tic is injured. D'Leh falls into a pitfall trap where he finds a Saber-Toothed Cat trapped and drowning under a pile of wooden beams. Despite knowing he may be eaten, D'Leh saves the cat by setting it free. D'Leh and Tic'Tic continue through the desert, encountering the recently raided village of the Naku tribe. Just when the Naku are about to attack them, the Saber-Tooth Cat appears and D'Leh reluctantly confronts it. Recognizing D'Leh as the one who saved it earlier, the feline spares him and protects him and Tic'Tic from the tribe. The tribe acknowledges D'Leh as the fulfiller of the prophecy that a man who speaks to the Spear-Tooth would become savior. D'Leh also learns that his father had been there years before, from whom Nakudu, leader of the Naku had learned the Yagahl language. Meanwhile, one of the raiders whips Baku and Nakudu's son, but Evolet begs the warlord to make him stop, which he does. The angry raider then says he will regret this.
Other tribes of the area, being convinced that the prophecy has been fulfilled, join them. D'Leh learns that Evolet and the others are being taken to the "Mountain of the gods", home to the Lost Civilization, a pre-egyptian race, where they would be forced to build temples and pyramids for a mysterious god-like figure who is believed to have come from a "land that sank into the sea". Determined to rescue Evolet and the rest of his tribesmen, D'Leh and Nakudu sneak into a slave camp to attempt to recruit the help of the countless slaves in a massive uprising. The slaves are unwilling to help, as they believe that no one can defeat the god-like figure except one: the one who bears "the mark." D'Leh and Nakudu are discovered by some guards as they leave the slave camp, but Tic'Tic kills them before they are able to raise the alarm. Unfortunately, Tic'Tic is killed in the struggle and D'Leh reluctantly inherits the White Spear. Evolet is discovered to have scars on her hand forming "the mark" of the constellation of orion. As D'Leh and the tribes under his command start an uprising, the slaves join them. They approach the temple of the "god", who threatens to kill Evolet. D'Leh chooses not to accept an offer to leave with Evolet alone and throws a spear at the tyrant "god", impaling him and encouraging the mob to surge forward. Evolet is seized by the warlord of the raiders, but she frees herself by stabbing him with an arrow. She runs towards D'Leh when the dying warlord, out of spite and jealousy, shoots an arrow at Evolet from behind, killing her. However, she comes back to life to fulfill the prophecy of Old Mother, who revives her with her last breath. Nakudu, fulfilling the wishes of D'Leh's father, gives him seeds for the Yagahl to cultivate. D'Leh and the rest of the Yagahl bid farewell to the Naku and return to their village. The film ends as D'Leh and Evolet observe the growth of the seedlings. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Romantic Comedy |
Words from me:The movie was so darn goOd, heart felt and funny. Made me cry 3 times (yes I was so cheezy during those moments) because of the heart warming scenes. The line I won't probably forget was... "You make me feel good inside." whaaaa....!!!! Sam delivered that line so well!!! Kristine Hermosa was the ultimate shallow person in that movie... while Toni... she was goOd. Really good... I'm not sure if its just me, but i really like the way she acts on screen, her acting looks so natural and when she acts with Sam... they are just so captivating together. Their tandem on screen is soOoo great I can't just get enough. Over all the movie and actors where great. The movie is worth it (maybe predictable in some angles) but the acting still makes up for it. Seeing Sam fat was hilarious, and seeing him transform was jaw dropping!!!! Words from me: The movie was interesting and funny. Made me want to teleport myself after the movie... but the downside of having a high expectation... it went on average for me. It wasn't very good, it wasn't very bad either. I'd say... it has a relatively captivating story but also have a lot of loOpholes if you would dig in deeper.

Jackson), who has been tracking him for several years after investigating the mysterious bank robberies David had accomplished. Roland uses a variety of advanced technologies to inhibit David’s ability to Jump while trying to kill him, but David manages to escape. After David tracks down Millie (Rachel Bilson), his childhood friend, he encounters Mark (Teddy Dunn),who attended David and Millie's school. The two get into a fight after Mark insults Millie. During the fight, David jumps with Mark into a bank vault, and leaves Mark inside. After this, David Jumps back to Millie, and uses his considerable wealth to fly her to Rome for a holiday.
While the two are exploring the Roman Colosseum, David meets a young Jumper named Griffin (Jamie Bell). After being attacked by Paladins, they jump to his hideout. Once there, David learns about a centuries-old war between Jumpers and Paladins, and about how Griffin is trying to track down and kill as many of the Paladins as he can. After interrogating Mark in jail, Roland sets out to find David.
Fearing for Millie’s safety, David returns to Rome to see her safely on a homebound plane, but is arrested by the police for trespassing. While in custody he is visited by his mother, Mary, and warned that the Paladins are on their way. After receiving a warning to run, David puts Millie on a plane to Detroit, and then Jumps to his father’s house to check on him. Unfortunately, William is dead, killed by Roland for refusing to sell out his son.
While working with Griffin, David jumps to Millie's home in order to take her to safety. After David arrives at Griffin's hideout, Griffin panics, telling David that the Paladins have technology that allows them to travel through the scars left after a jump. Roland arrives minutes later with a team of Paladins and attacks the group. Griffin kills the team with a flamethrower and fights against Roland one-on-one; Roland eventually retreats back through the jump scar into Millie's home, taking Millie with him.
Griffin prepares a bomb to use against Roland, but David won’t let him as this would kill Millie as well. David then steals the detonator and the two Jump across the world, through each other’s Jump Scars; until David manages to trap Griffin in a collapsed electrical tower (preventing him from jumping). He then Jumps to Millie’s apartment, only to be caught by Roland and the Paladins. With great effort David manages to Jump a large portion of Millie’s apartment into a lake, shorting out the Paladins’ equipment. From there, he jumps a portion of the apartment, Millie, Roland, and himself into a library. David then jumps Roland into a cave in the Grand Canyon. Sparing Roland's life, David states that not all Jumpers end up being evil.
Some time later, David pays a visit to his mother, Mary, in the process learning that he has a sister. When he confronts her about her being a Paladin, she tells him that she loves him and therefore will give him a head start. The film ends with David and Millie jumping away to an unknown, but known to be a warmer, location. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Romance |
Words from me:The movie was OK so far... but not the best. Not a major disappointment either. So I can't say I didn't like it. Although Lee Jun Ki and Aoi Miyazaki (a favorite korean actor and japanese actress) was the main characters it still didn't make into my MUST watch and recommended movies. The story was more like a really innocent love at first sight and has many sweet moments. A girl would love to be treated like how Jun Ki treated Aoi here. It was just so sweet... but then again the character building was slow (although amazingly it doesn't have TOO many draggy moments as i have expected it to be) and the whole story lacked a bit more heart clenching moments as it should have. Synopsis: click here for the link. Jun-Ki Lee, plays Kim Min, a South Korean high school student that moved with his dad to Kyoto (his dad is a pottery maker). Kim Min rides his bicycle around Kyoto and crashes his bike in front of a Buddhist temple. He limps over to a nearby water fountain to clean his wounds, when Nanae (Aoi Miyzaki) walks by. Their eyes meet, sparks start to fly and we have the beginnings of “Virgin Snow.” When Kim Min enrolls at the local high school, Nanae just so happens to attend the same school. It seems fate is already working its magic. Kim Min does everything he can to charm Nanae and it works. They do encounter the expected language barriers, but with a little bit of Japanese, a little bit of Korean, some broken English and a whole lot of hand gestures they seem to understand each other just fine. They become close enough that they make a pact to meet in Seoul on the first day of snowfall to walk along a mythical street. Unfortunately Nanae’s difficult home life derails their plans. After Nanae’s father passed away, her mom has been mired in depression and has taken to booze for solace. She eventually picks up a new man, who turns to be a violent drunk. -excerpted from Lunapark6

We'll be having a bible quiz tomorrow.. it's fun reading the bible again.
Usually people like me who's been brought up as an adventist christian since my childhood days, it gets tiring to know the bible. But then again, once it gets opened and read, it seems hard to stop. (i suggest read the NIV version or The Living Bible version... its much easier to understand) | Category: | Books | | Genre: | Science Fiction & Fantasy | | Author: | Phillip Pullman |
Words From Me:(spoiler)I have finally finished the 3rd installment of the Dark Materials Trilogy. The Amber Spyglass is an epic... (for me that is) i cried my eyes out in this one. yes, I am a drama queen when it comes to this kinds of stuff. I never imagined it would have a really dramatic ending. It was such an engaging book that it never occurred to me that the ending would be like that. Since I have been so hung up with his books, I'll probably end up buying the spin off book entitled Lyra's Oxford. According to some people, it has a bit of closure for Lyra and gives a meaning to her life after her adventure from the previous books. This book is such a good read, but beware of your senses and faith. If you have read The Davinci Code... that book's fiction is nothing compared to Pullman's Dark Material Trilogy. This tackles about the church and the non-existence of God... it is creepy to think of it like that in a sense. ( click here for the link if you want to learn about the controversies of his books) But the thought here is, I wasn't reading it for that... but for the life story of Lyra and her adventure. She was so clever that that an 11 year old kid would get through all of those experiences. So now... it made me think that we all have to leave by now and not from yesterday or for tomorrow. All good things happen for today. note: all of the images of the books that I upload here is the exact covers of the books i own... Summary:(spoiler) click here for the link The Amber Spyglass deals most strongly of the three books with religious and metaphysical ideas, depicting the foreshadowed re-enactment (and inversion) of Milton's Paradise Lost,[2] and finally elaborating upon the nature of Dust. One of the most controversial elements of the story is the demise of Pullman's Authority, who is complementary to Milton's God. While Milton wrote his poem "to justify the ways of God to men," Pullman has said, "My books are about killing God." In The Amber Spyglass, Pullman has the Authority unmasked as a decrepit and immoral fraud who had been posing as Supreme Being, and who in the end suffers an ignomious death and dissipation into the wind. The book's two main protagonists, Lyra and Will, are present and take pity on the frail being as this occurs, but do not even recognize him. Lyra has been taken by her mother, Marisa Coulter, (more commonly known as Mrs Coulter) to a remote cave in the Himalayas of their own world, where she is kept in drugged sleep. In this state, Lyra dreams that she is in a wasteland (later realized as the land of the dead) talking to her dead friend Roger, whom she promises to help. In Cittàgazze, a pair of angels named Balthamos and Baruch tell Will that they have come to take him, the bearer of the Subtle Knife, to Lord Asriel. Will refuses to go until Lyra is rescued, to which the two assent. Will and the angels are attacked by a soldier of the archangel Metatron, the Authority's Regent. Will cuts a window into another world to escape. Lord Asriel sends out a small army to Lyra's cave, to counteract the zeppelins from the Consistorial Court. He also sends two Gallivespian spies, the Chevalier Tialys and the Lady Salmakia, to protect Lyra. Gallivespians resemble humans, but are approximately four inches tall. Mary Malone, who has stepped through a window from her and Will's own world (much like the readers') into Cittàgazze, eventually goes through another window into a stranger world. She finds a group of elephantine creatures who call themselves mulefa and travel by attaching round seedpods to their feet and using them as wheels. These creatures have a complex culture, intricate language and an infectious laugh; as a result, Mary begins to think of them as her equals. Eventually, Mary is absorbed into mulefa community, where she learns that the trees from which the seedpods are gathered are becoming extinct, and have been so for 300 years. Mary, to further understand this problem constructs a telescope out of sap lacquer that allows her to see Dust. It seems to be flying off into the distance in large streams, rather than falling downward and nourishing the trees on which the mulefa mutually depend. Will meets Iorek Byrnison, the king of the armoured Panserbjørne, whose people are migrating south to avoid the Arctic melt caused by the effects of Lord Asriel's bridge (created at the end of the first book). Iorek agrees to help rescue Lyra. Here, global warming is associated with similar disasters taking place throughout many worlds as a result of the upheavals regarding Dust. Three forces—Will, Iorek, and Balthamos; Lord Asriel's army; and the Church's army—converge on Mrs. Coulter's cave. Will is able to wake Lyra. He is cutting a window into another world when Mrs. Coulter turns and looks directly at him. For a moment, Will is reminded of his own mother; as a result, his concentration falters, and the knife shatters. Because the window he has cut is open, Will, Lyra, and the Gallivespian spies manage to escape to another world. Lord Asriel's forces capture Mrs. Coulter, who escapes and flies off to tell the Consistorial Court everything she knows. The Consistorial Court of Discipline arrests Mrs. Coulter; therefore she allies herself with Roke and Asriel. This side of the war wants to preserve Dust, not destroy it, for they see the Church as trying to take all the joy out of life by categorizing it as "sin". Iorek Byrnison repairs the subtle knife, but with regret. Will, Lyra, Tialys and Salmakia enter the world of the dead, leaving their dæmons (worldly identities) behind. At this point, Will finds out that he does have a dæmon as he also feels a great pain in his heart, and physically, as Lyra does. The manner of their entry reflects Greek mythology in its use of an aged boatman (not named in the novel, but presumably Charon) to ferry the dead across a river. Lyra finds Roger in the crowd of ghosts. Will and the Gallivespians decide that the ghosts must be freed from this world, which Will considers a prison camp; therefore they decide to go to the highest point in the land of the dead, where Will cuts a door into another world. At this, the ghosts step through and dissolve into nature. Asriel and Marisa talk. Asriel in fact wants to preserve Dust forever, not destroy it. He does not think 'sin' as the Church defines it is bad. Like the angels desire flesh, 'sin' is no more than enjoyment of life. Without such 'sin' there'd be no story to tell the harpies. It is not really 'sin', it is in fact freedom. If the Church destroys Dust, which they think is Original Sin, that freedom will be lost forever, and the Authority's oppression will dominate all worlds. The final battle begins. John Parry and Lee Scoresby hold themselves together when they leave the world of the dead and join Lord Asriel's army to fight the spectres. Mrs. Coulter enters the Clouded Mountain, citadel of the Authority, where she meets the Regent Metatron. Mrs. Coulter manipulates Metatron by offering him Lord Asriel's life. This is similar to the means by which Lyra had tricked Iofur Raknison, Iorek's rival for kingship of the bears; in that Lyra had used Iofur's desire to become human to trick him, much as her mother uses Metatron's desire to experience sensual pleasure to confuse him. Mrs. Coulter betrays Metatron to Lord Asriel, on the grounds that Lyra is precious to both of them. All three tumble into an abyss, their ghosts destined to continue to fall for eternity. Will and Lyra enter the world of the mulefa. They grab their dæmons immediately before doing so; the dæmons run off again. Lyra and Will's dæmons return after meeting with the witch (also, Lyra's dæmon has taken on the permanant shape of a marten and Will's a cat called Kirjava- named by´Serafina Pekkala) Serafina Pekkala and tell them that all the windows between the worlds must be closed, as Dust is leaking out of them all the time. Furthermore, every time a window is made, a Spectre is created; therefore the knife must be destroyed altogether. The angels will allow one window to remain open: the one leading out of the land of the dead. Because Will and Lyra have fallen in true love with each other, and because they cannot live together (for the reason being permanently out of one's own world causes sickness and death within a little over ten years), this information deeply saddens them. However, they both agree that one day a year, on Midsummer's Day, each of them will sit on a bench that corresponds to one like it in the other's world; thus putting them in the same place. Lyra returns to Jordan College, where she had lived for many years. Because she can no longer read the alethiometer, having lost the subconscious innocence that enabled her to read it by instinct, she decides to study alethiometry at a special school. Hereinafter, she and dæmon Pantalaimon will follow John Parry's suggestion to build the idealised Republic of Heaven at home. Will, too, returns to his world, accompanied by Mary Malone, and knows that he has a true friend who will understand the whole ordeal. | Category: | Books | | Genre: | Science Fiction & Fantasy | | Author: | Phillip Pullman |
Words From Me:(Spoiler) I can't wait to open the 3rd book. There were a lot of sad things happening in this book. Yes... more death. But then again, the agitation and hatred for the circumstances in the character's life was eventually shrugged off as i continued reading on.. There is a new character involved. A 12 years old Kid named Will. I like this new character since he came from "OUR WORLD" as Pullman has described it in his book. It was so fun seeing Lyra (in my imagination that is) be scared of cars and trucks, Tartars (I presume are the Africans), the idea that she hates being ordered around by Will. But since she doesn't know THIS world, she would have to do as Will told her. So two kids finding their way into worst conditions.. but meaning to survive and do their tasks. As usual, Pullman's books are full of twist and turns that its hard to tell what exactly is going to happen next. Death here is not as much explained as it will be in the third book. (Yes... i have started reading the 3rd book much to my excitement) Death is like an inevitable way that just happens. But then again, this is the 2nd book i am talking about. It explains so much that its really hard to say its all FICTION a Fantasy. If it was real... then there goes all the elementary particles they call dust. Summary click herefor the link. The Subtle Knife initially follows the story of Will Parry, a twelve-year-old boy on the run from unknown men looking for letters from his long lost explorer father that had been sent to his now ailing mother. He leaves his mother with a friend and recovers the letters, killing one of his pursuers in the process, and while fleeing he accidentally stumbles across a window to another world. He finds himself in Cittàgazze, an otherworldly city whose denizens have discovered a clean path between worlds but their reckless use of the the portals (or windows) has released soul-eating Spectres that can only see and harm adults, thus rendering the world incapable of transit by post-adolescents. Here Will Parry stumbles into Lyra who travelled there by passing through the hole Lord Asriel creates in the Northern Lights at the end of the previous book. The pair team up, travelling back and forth between the two worlds as Lyra tries to uncover more about the nature of Dust and Will unravels the mystery of what happened to his father, who it turns out was also looking for a gateway between worlds. Lyra meets a physicist by the name of Dr. Malone who has discovered Dust and a way to see it from your consciousness. Lyra quickly explains who she is to Dr. Malone because the alethiometer told her to and Dr. Malone is just simply staggered and slightly skeptical about her. All doubts go out the window though once Lyra shows her that she can manipulate Dust. Lyra shows her that she can speak to it in the language of symbols on the compass and tells her to find a way to convert what the Dust is saying into words. Dr. Malone pleads with her to stay but Lyra has to leave to get back to Will. Also the way Lyra has the alethiometer stolen by a man from her world named Sir Charles, and is sent on a quest to steal a weapon called the Subtle Knife from Cittàgazze if she wants it back. Lyra and Will go to the tower of Angels to find the Subtle Knife. They find it and Will fights to take the Subtle Knife from a young man who is unable to unlock its power but uses it to hold the Spectres at bay. Will becomes the new knife bearer and finds that one edge of the knife is capable of creating portals between worlds and the other edge easily cuts through any form of matter. The man in the tower tells him that the specters come from a different world and were let i |
