One Night with the King is a film that was released in 2006 in the United States. It was based on the novel Hadassah: One Night with the King by Tommy Tenney and Mark Andrew Olsen. This movie is a dramatization of the Old Testament Bible story of Esther, who risked her life by approaching the king to request that he save the Jewish people. I am giving it 5 stars just because I'm such a big sucker for romance and bible stories. Watching it for the 3rd time still seems worth it. ;)

The film generally adheres to the main plot of the Biblical narrative. However, the film adds stylistic elements not present in the Biblical story. The Jewish narrative of the relationship between Esther and Xerxes was not a love story, but a forced marriage in which Esther had no choice. The movie portrays it as a love story, adding palace intrigue.
